Those shoes are too wobbly… Conversations with toddlers.

Me: G, please take E’s shoes over and put them in the basket.
G: No, I can’t… You do it.
Me: Excuse me? - No, you don’t get to tell me what to do. Please, put E’s shoes in the basket.
G: Those shoes are too wobbly.
Me (exasperated): Just put them in the basket.

Attention… Conversations with toddlers

I love how honest toddlers are… especially about needing attention. When they want you to give them attention (which is most of the time:), they simply say, “look at me” or “watch me”. It’s a simple request but somewhere along the the way to adulthood most of us loose the honesty part of this kind of situation. I think the older kids get the less straightforward they are about needing attention.
This past weekend E crawled in bed with me early saturday morning and I ask if he could watch cartoons. Once he was settled in, I turned back to my side and tried to catch a couple more zzz’s. Seconds later, he tapped me on my shoulder and said… “Hey, you turn this way and look at me.” Of course I turned to face him and although the tv was playing a cartoon he picked, he lay on my pillow facing me and putting his little hands on my cheek. I smiled and he smiled in return and I thought this wasn’t a bad wake up call at all.
Because the boys are always together (as many twins are), sometimes we have to one on one time whenever it can occur… and I have to thank the boys when they remind me that they need some individual attention.
Confessions… Conversations with Toddlers
Setting: In the bathroom.
G: When I was a baby… like 2 years old. One time I flushed your glasses…. ha, ha, ha.
Me: My sunglasses?
G: yep.
Me:Is this a confession? or you me telling a story?
I think he just made that up… but with these boys you just can’t ever tell.

Success… pinning, wine and getting paid.

Recently, a friend sent me this. The ironic part - the day she sent it to me I had actually spent the majority of my work day on pinterest for a new project. My only break from the pinterest project was a brainstorm involving marketing a new wine brand… and of course wine was served.
So, I guess I made it. If you want to know more about the lovely business that let’s me enjoy a glass of wine and spend a day pinning go here.
Climbing… Conversations with Toddlers
The Scene: I walked into the bathroom to see G standing on top of our vanity.
Me: What are you doing?
G: I’m a very good climber. (with some climbing hand motions)
Me: Well, of course you are… but you don’t always have to prove it.
